Follow Your Passion to Overcome
the "I Lack the Things I Need" Obstacle

You want to follow your passion but lack the things you need. This obstacle was a biggy for me. It was like a brick wall directly in my path. I know what I want to do but "I don't have money to invest," "I can't leave my job now," "I don't have any of the right connections that I need," or ___________, fill in the blank!

The killer is that it's really true! My reasons for not being able to change were more real than real. I really did not have the money, connections, etc. This had me stumped and stuck for a long time.

What to do? The answer is, as usual, simple. It involves looking at things a little differently. We think we need certain things in order to start living our life purpose. They're prerequisites. You really want to follow your passion but how can you possibly start you dream business when you don't have the money to invest?

Reality is exactly the opposite! You get the things you need by starting to live your life mission and follow your passion! Doing what you love, enjoy and are passionate about opens doors and creates opportunities.

At this point, I can sense your thinking. "What's he talking about? I need those things and don't have them so how am I going to live my mission?"

Consider: Although right now you don't have all the things you need to follow your passion and live your life purpose, you certainly have everything you need to start acting.

All you really need to start is a desire to live your mission and a clear concept of it. Once you start acting to pursue your passion, things start to happen.

So, the key is to strongly desire, I would say, you need to have a burning yearning to pursue your passion. Secondly, have a clear picture of your life purpose. Write it down. Committing your thoughts and vision to paper is a very powerful exercise. It makes your vision "real" and makes it clearer in your own mind.

Think about all the details. Write it down in more detail. Get it clear in your mind. By writing it down you've already begun to act. Start planning and speaking with others. You will be pleasantly surprised at how these simple activities open yourself up to new opportunities.

Finally, acknowledge that the things you need exist and are within reach. Acknowledgment traditionally takes the form of prayer. It doesn't have to, though. If you feel more comfortable stating affirmations, then do that. The point of prayer is to acknowledge and cultivate the faith that everything you need is within reach. What's important is that your prayers/affirmations should be specific.

So, to summarize, in order to beat the "I lack what I need" barrier:

• Cultivate a strong burning yearning to pursue your passion and live your life mission.
  
  
• Clarify what you want. Write it down, add details and think about it. Committing your ideas to paper make them more "real".
  
  
• Start to act now. By writing down your thoughts you've already started to act. Acting is absolutely crucial. Action creates opportunity. Plan, speak with people.
  
  
• Acknowledge through prayer or affirmation that everything you need exists and is within reach. There is a benevolent Creator who wants you to succeed and will help you to get what you want.
